Our story

Who doesn’t love the great feeling of a pair of soft and comfy socks? It was a dark and wet winter’s evening when Bambuso founders Graham and Luke were sat in their local pub, discussing this very fact. Luke had recently been given a pair of bamboo socks and was extolling their virtues: soft, comfy and breathable. A couple of pints later, they concluded that the bamboo socks Luke received in his Christmas stocking that year were good, but the quality could be better. From that moment onwards, the pair embarked on a journey to make the world’s most comfortable socks. And they knew they had to be made from bamboo. 

The pair scoured the world for the finest bamboo fiber and went about designing the perfect socks. Not too thick, not too thin and with a perfectly comfy top cuff to keep them up all day and night. A few months and many sock samples later, Bambuso was born.

We want to make the world’s most comfortable socks. At Bambuso we’re proud to have created what we think are seriously comfortable socks. We hope you’ll think so too. We want to spread the word about bamboo being great. As well as being super-soft and moisture absorbent, we were attracted to using bamboo to make our socks because it’s environmentally friendly. Bamboo is one of the world’s most sustainable plants as it requires very little water and far less land area to grow when compared to traditional alternatives like cotton. It requires not nasty chemicals to grow and bamboo viscose is 100% biodegradable. Find out more about why we love bamboo in our FAQs. 

We want to be as sustainable as possible and transparent about our supply chain. Since the very start, Bambuso has strived to be as sustainable as possible. That’s why we decided early on that we would not use the cheapest available options which we knew could compromise our values. We’ve taken the time to visit the people in our supply chain and we’re happy that we’re doing as much as we can to put sustainability at the heart of what we do. We’re a young, fast-growing company and we know there’s always more we can do to be more sustainable. We will keep learning and keep trying to do our best.
